Part of the distro on Ubuntu. Has to be compiled on SuSE.
The project has no releases as such; you have to check the code out from SVN. I compiled separate versions for 32 and 64-bit machines on SuSE 10.3 but I'm not sure it was necessary.
svn checkout svn://svn.mplayerhq.hu/ffmpeg/trunk ffmpeg ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/shared/suse-10.3/x86_64/ffmpeg make make install
The 32-bit binary from 10.3 was linked into the generic suse 11.1 bin directory.
