The Scott Polar Research Institute is a well-known and long-established centre for research into both polar regions. It is part of the University of Cambridge and is a sub-department of the Department of Geography

Due to the Institute's physical location next to Chemistry, its computing is supported by the Chemistry Computer Officers.

For general issues, most of what you need can be found on the Chemistry computer pages: www.ch.cam.ac.uk/computing.

The Getting Started page is probably the most useful as it includes all the information you need just to get working:

For common problems and troubleshooting, there is a SPRI wiki page (for internal use only) - which is a dynamic site that will grow to meet the needs of the department.  As well as information on common issues, it also contains details on more SPRI-related IT matters, such as:

  • ordering non-standard software
  • administrator permissions
  • SPRI printers
  • Beluga Compute Server
