We used to install a non-dstro version. To install it you just download and unpack. You then need to add the plugins for Subclipse 1.6 and Maven. To do that go to the Help then Install New Software and point it at the appropriate URL: http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.6.x/, http://download.eclipse.org/technology/m2e/releases/ . Do subclipse first. Had to untick one of the Maven components (AJDT) because there was a missing dependency.

There's a known problem with Maven indexes taking foreever to update: Go to Window>Preferences>Maven and uncheck Download Repository Indexes on Startup
